Hi beautiful soul,
If you’re anything like me, you love your family with your whole heart and you’re deeply committed to the work you’ve been called to do. But let’s be honest — trying to do both well? It’s a lot.
I want to start by saying this: this is my biggest struggle right now. I’m right here in the thick of it with you — building a business I believe in while showing up for the people I love most. Some days, I feel aligned and on fire. Other days, I’m overwhelmed and stretched thin. But I’m learning (slowly and with lots of grace) how to create daily rhythms that help me do both without burning out.
So if you’ve been searching for a more balanced, peaceful way to juggle all the things… welcome. You’re in the right place.
Let’s talk about some daily habits and simple scheduling shifts that can help you show up for your business and your babies — with more ease, energy, and heart.
Start with a Morning Routine Just for You
Before the emails, the dishes, the “Mom, where’s my…?” — there’s sacred space in the quiet. Even 20–30 minutes to yourself before everyone wakes up can change everything.
Try this:
- Sip something warm and check in with how you’re feeling.
- Journal, pray, or set intentions for your day.
- Move your body or simply breathe and stretch.
You don’t need a perfect morning — just one that centers you before you start pouring into others.
Time-Block Like a Pro
This has been a game-changer in my life and business. Time-blocking means assigning chunks of time for focused work, family, errands, or rest — instead of trying to do all the things all day long.
Examples:
- 8–10am: Client calls & creative work
- 12–2pm: Homeschool or lunch/reset time
- 4–6pm: Family dinner & connection
Use color-coded calendars or a printable planner to visually organize your day — even if it changes. Seeing your blocks helps you feel grounded and clear.
Set Gentle but Firm Boundaries
When work bleeds into family time — or family time gets interrupted by business — it can feel like you’re always letting someone down. That’s why setting boundaries isn’t just helpful… it’s necessary.
Tips:
- Set “office hours” for yourself, even if you work from home.
- Mute notifications during dinner or family evenings.
- Create a signal your kids understand when you need focus time — and honor that by giving them your full attention later.
Boundaries aren’t selfish — they’re sacred.
Prioritize What Actually Matters
This one’s hard for me because my to-do list is always longer than my available time. But I’ve learned that doing the most important things well is better than trying to do everything halfway.
Try this:
- Choose your “Big 3” each morning — the 3 most important things to get done today.
- Let go of the rest (or move it to tomorrow).
- Ask: What would make today feel successful?
Release the guilt of not doing it all. You weren’t made to carry everything.
Plan Weekly, Adjust Daily
Each Sunday, I take 30-60 minutes to map out the week — meals, appointments, client calls, and goals. But I also give myself permission to shift things as life happens.
Try this rhythm:
- Weekly planning every Sunday (with your planner, a cozy drink, and maybe some quiet music).
- Quick morning check-ins each day to see what needs to shift.
This keeps you moving forward, but with the grace and flexibility motherhood (and entrepreneurship) requires.
Involve the Family
You don’t have to carry it all alone. When you involve your family in your goals, plans, and rhythms, it creates more connection and support.
Ideas:
- Weekly family meetings to go over the calendar.
- Age-appropriate chores or “helping jobs” for kids.
- Let your family be part of your vision — share your business wins and dreams with them!
Even a 5-minute cuddle or dance party can shift the energy for everyone.
Automate and Outsource
This is one I’ve been leaning into more and more. You can do it all… but you shouldn’t have to.
Try this:
- Automate bill payments, emails, or calendar reminders.
- Use meal delivery or grocery pickup.
- Hire help when and where you can — even a mother’s helper for two hours can change everything.
Buying back your time isn’t indulgent — it’s a wise investment in your well-being and your ability to serve well.
Give Yourself Grace
This is the most important one. You are not behind. You are not failing. You are building something beautiful in a very full season.
Remember:
- You’re doing sacred work — both at home and in your business.
- Rest is not a reward, it’s a right.
- Perfection is never the goal. Presence is.
Some days will be smooth. Others will be messy. All of them are part of your story — and you’re doing better than you think.
Bonus Habit: End-of-Day Reflection
At the end of each day, take 5 quiet minutes to reflect and reset:
- What went well today?
- Where did I feel stuck or scattered?
- What do I need tomorrow?
This little check-in helps you clear the mental clutter and enter the next day with more clarity and intention.
Final Thoughts
You can raise a family and run a business. You can be an intentional mother and a passionate entrepreneur. You can chase your dreams and still be present for the people who matter most.
But it won’t come from doing more.
It comes from doing less — on purpose.
So, take a deep breath, beautiful. You’ve got this. And you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
